'Annie' To Light Up the Night Sky During Movies in the Parks

DUNNING — It will be a hard knock life for you if you miss the 2014 remake of the classic movie musical "Annie" during the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Parks series.

The timeless tale of the plucky foster kid whose life is changed by a business tycoon and New York politician will be shown under the stars twice on the Far Northwest Side in August as part of the summer movie series.

Moviegoers can bring a blanket and a picnic basket to watch current and classic flicks for free during the series.

The schedule for August is:

• "Annie" at 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Shabonna Park, 6935 W. Addison St.
• "Big Hero 6" at 8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Roberts Square Park, 5200 W. Argyle St.
• "Big Hero 6" at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 7 at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.
• "The Goonies" at 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at Edgebrook Park, 6525 N. Hiawatha Ave.
• "Mamma Mia" at 8 p.m. Aug. 10 at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave.
• "Annie" at 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at Portage Park, 4100 N. Long Ave.
• "Footloose" at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 12 at Merrimac Park, 6343 W. Irving Park Road
• "Angels in the Outfield" at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Chopin Park, 3420 N. Long Ave.
• "Back to the Future" at 8 p.m. Aug. 26 at Portage Park, 4100 N. Long Ave.
• "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at Hiawatha Park, 8029 W. Forest Preserve Drive
