CHICAGO — Uber is offering free delivery of ice cream on Friday.

The ice cream still comes with a price — $5 to $8 per item — but the ride-hailing service will deliver it without charge anywhere in the city on Friday, according to Uber. Uber has done something similar for years on select dates, but this is the first time the delivery is available "all over" Chicago, according to the organization.

To snag the ice cream, open your Uber app, swipe over to UberEATS between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., enter your location and order your ice cream picks from the menu.

The menu:

• Bar Siena will offer salted caramel gelato with frosted shortbread cookies for $5. The restaurant opens Saturday at Randolph and Green streets.

• Black Dog Gelato and Glazed and Infused have teamed up to offer a Nutella gelato-inflused maple bacon doughnut for $8.

• Graeter's Ice Cream of Northbrook will serve up black raspberry chocolate chunk ice cream for $5.

Availability will be limited, according to Uber.
