CHICAGO — A man suspected of fatally shooting 7-year-old Amari Brown on the evening of July 4 has been arrested in Wisconsin, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Rasheed Martin, 20, was taken into custody "without incident" at 3900 Tower Avenue in Superior, Wis., according to a statement released Wednesday by the Douglas County Sheriff. Martin is wanted in connection to the shooting on the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue in Humboldt Park, which left 7-year-old Amari Brown dead and a 26-year-old woman injured.
The arrest was conducted by Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Superior Police Department and U.S. Marshalls Service, the statement said. Martin currently is being held in Wisconsin, pending extradition to Illinois.

Neighbors said Amari was a happy child who loved to ride his bike and play with other children on the block.
Days after the shooting, a coalition of South and West side business, churches, politicians and community leaders raised more than $6,000 as a reward for information leading to the capture of Amari’s killer.
Chicago Police previously said that the two victims were caught in the crossfire, and that Amari's father is a "high-ranking" gang member who was likely the intended target.
Chicago Police declined to comment Wednesday evening on the arrest, citing the ongoing investigation.
