GARFIELD PARK — A man died after being shot multiple times in East Garfield Park Saturday night, officials said.

At about 10 p.m., police responded to a call that a person had been shot on the 500 block of North Avers Avenue, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Once police got there they found a 25-year-old man, later identified by Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Elbert Farris, of the 800 block of North Latrobe Avenue in South Austin, with multiple gunshot wounds in his head and body.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said, and doctors there later pronounced him dead.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said
