CHICAGO — Police are seeking two robbers who allegedly stole from a Downtown 7-11 and assaulted a bystander Friday night.

A man and woman entered the 7-11 on the 100 block of N. Michigan Ave. (just north of Millennium Park) around 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Someone in the store noticed the woman leaving the store with stolen merchandise and confronted her, police said.

Then the man hit the witness with a pipe wrench "numerous times," police said, and the couple fled on foot, police said.

The man and woman were described as black and 5'10 and 5'3 tall, respectively.

Police urge anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
