CHICAGO — Filming for "Southside With You," a movie that depicts Barack and Michelle Obama's first date in Chicago, has begun in Lakeview.
Filming will take place on Southport from 3737 N. Southport Ave. to Waveland and the south side of Grace from Southport to Wayne 6 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.
The movie will depict the Obamas' first date, when they visited the Art Institute, grabbed ice cream in Hyde Park and watched Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing."
Tika Sumpter portrays Michelle and Parker Sawyers portrays Barack.
Filming for the flick took place 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the same area.
