The Sounds of Sinatra to Fill Sauganash Park

SAUGANASH — The distinctive sound of Frank Sinatra will fill Sauganash Park as part of a series of events that will take place at Far Northwest Side parks this month, officials said.

The concert by the Revolutionary Swing Orchestra will pay tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes in a performance at 6 p.m. Friday as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Night Out in the Parks program with the Chicago Park District at Sauganash Park, 5861 N. Kostner Ave.

Other events in the Night Out in the Parks program are:

• Mili and Jed will jam with attendees to acoustic and alternative rock favorites. Musicians can bring their favorite instrument to play and sing along from 6 to 7 p.m. July 22 at Edgebrook Park, 6525 N. Hiawatha Ave.

• Perfect your Half Moon Pose under the stars as part of a yoga class from 7:15-8 p.m. July 22 and July 29 at Norwood Park Circle Park, 7177 W. Peterson Ave.

• Acclaimed Flamenco troupe Soul and Duende will perform — and teach attendees a move or two — from 7 to 8 p.m. July 22 at at Edgebrook Park, 6525 N. Hiawatha Ave.

• The Culture Coach, a self-contained traveling pop-up stage, will take over Olympia Park, 6566 N. Avondale Ave., from 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 25. Presented by Kuumba Renaissance, from Madison, Wisconsin, and Elastic Arts, the event will include performances from DJ Ayana and a local band. Brushes, paint and a large canvas will be available for the audience to create a painting after dancing and singing.

• The Horner/Portage Park Jazz band, lead by conductor Don Sadofsky, will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. July 27 at Portage Park, 4100 N. Long Ave.

• A gallery show of work completed by first-year art Chicago Park District art students age 6 to 70 will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 31 at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave.

• The Chicago Shakespeare Theater will bring the best of the Bard's work to life at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave., at 6:30 p.m. July 31.
