BRIDGEPORT — Rugby coaches are coming to the neighborhood today to teach kids the ins-and-outs of the sport.

From 4:30-7:30 p.m. the 3700 block of Lowe Avenue will be closed to allow children to learn basic rugby skills, play games and win prizes.

The event is part of PlayStreets, a campaign that encourages neighborhoods to temporarily close down residential streets to create "pop-up" play spaces for kids to learn new sports and stay active.

The free event will be moderated by working rugby coaches recruited by Rugby Illinois, a non-profit that promotes youth rugby throughout the state.

PlayStreets is sponsored by the City of Chicago, Chicago Department of Public Health, Active Transportation Alliance, LISC Chicago and World Sport Chicago.
