CHICAGO — Playing in the World Cup wasn't enough for former Chicago soccer player Erin McLeod — she had to cap it off with marrying teammate Ella Masar.

McLeod played for the Red Stars, a professional women's soccer team in Chicago, in 2013. Masar played for the Red Stars in 2009-10 and in 2013. They lived in Ukrainian Village during the 2013 season.

The two also starred in "The Ella and Erin Show" on YouTube during their time playing for the Red Stars. The show featured them goofing around and laughing. It garnered thousands of views.

"Erin makes fun of me a lot, but deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down she cares," said Masar, according to an Aug. 9, 2013, DNAinfo story.

During one episode, McLeod asked, "Think this will get me a lot of dates?"

Seems like it worked.

They shared photos of their wedding and thanked supporters in posts to Twitter and Instagram Wednesday and Friday. The marriage comes about two weeks after the Supreme Court issued a ruling that made marriage for same-sex couples legal throughout the United States.

McLeod and Masar were traded to the Houston Dash in 2014.
