CHICAGO — Mike Ditka has a special treat for Chicagoans to celebrate National Hot Dog Month.

The Spicy Jumbo Ditka Dog will be served at Al's Italian Beef restaurants (sans the Taylor Street location) throughout July, which is National Hot Dog Month.

The dog is billed as a "monster sausage" that's almost three times the size of a traditional hot dog. Needless to say, it's made of Vienna beef and comes on a poppyseed bun.

The Spicy Jumbo Ditka Dog, which weighs 1/3 pound will come in three varieties:

• Original: mustard, relish, onion and sport peppers

• Chicago Style: mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers, sliced tomato and kosher pickle spear

• Maxwell: mustard, grilled onion and sport peppers

Ditka's also peddles "monster sausages" at Jewel-Osco, Mariano's, Soldier Field and Ditka's restaurants.
