CHICAGO — Police shot and killed a 27-year-old man after he allegedly pulled a gun on officers Thursday night, according to police and morgue officials.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man with a gun in the 7500 block of South Langley Avenue in Grand Crossing. When officers found a man matching the description and tried to arrest him, he reached for a gun in his waistband, police said.

An officer shot the man, knocking him to the ground, where he again reached for his gun, police said.

The officer then shot the man again. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office reported that he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:41 a.m., Friday.

The man was identified as Martice Milliner, 27, of the 1700 block of North Lawndale Avenue.

A gun was recovered, and no officers were injured, police said.
