LOGAN SQUARE — What does ‘home’ mean to you? The Unity Park Advisory Council hopes to find out.

On Saturday, July 11, the council’s annual Art in the Park event will tackle that question in the midst of a changing neighborhood. This year’s event, “Your Neighborhood, Your Creation,” will explore the meaning of home in Logan Square.

In celebration of the meaning of home on the Northwest Side, local artists will paint a map of Logan Square on the park grounds and participants will create their version of homes and apartment buildings from moving boxes and other art supplies provided by UPAC.

Attendees will then place their “houses” on a map of the neighborhood culminating in a miniature Logan Square in the middle of Unity Park.

Several local practicing artists, including lead artist Amie Sell, will be on hand to guide the creations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Unity Park, 2636 N. Kimball Ave.

This year’s Art in the Park will also include an arts and crafts tables for smaller children and a comics-making workshop by local comic artist Scott Kroll.
