North Lawndale Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Wounded, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man was killed and a 38-year-old man wounded Wednesday night in a shooting in North Lawndale, police said.

Around 9:50 p.m., the two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of West 16th Street when two men walked up and opened fire, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 50-year-old was shot the chest, arm and leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Gaines said.

Later, the 38-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in the leg. His condition had since stabilized, Gaines said.
