1 Dead, 7 Wounded in Citywide Shootings Since Tuesday Morning

CHICAGO — Since Tuesday morning, eight people have been shot across the city including a 22-year-old man killed in Morgan Park late Tuesday.

Most recently, a 20-year-old man was shot in Washington Heights. At 3:32 a.m., the man was standing on a porch in the 9200 block of South Justine Street when someone shot him in his right forearm, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

In Austin around 1:35 a.m., a 31-year-old man was driving in the 4700 block of West Van Buren Street when someone opened fire from a passing silver car, striking him in his head. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

Around 11:20 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Portage Park. About an hour before that shooting, a 33-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side.

Two people were also shot in Little Village Tuesday night.

Around 10:15 p.m., a 24-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 6400 block of South Artesian Avenue in Chicago Lawn when a man approached him and shot him in his left ankle, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

Around 1:15 p.m., a 44-year-old woman was shot in her neck as she sat in the passenger seat of a car in the 4100 block of West Cullerton Street in North Lawndale. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
