PORTAGE PARK — The work of a Northwest Side photographer will fill the walls of the Perkolator Cafe starting Wednesday.

The exhibit organized by Northwest Arts Connection will feature photographs from Josh Sheldon, organizers said.

The showing is the sixth in an ongoing series of events at Perkolator promoting the work of artists who live in the area, organizers said.

Sheldon will discuss his work from 2:30-4 p.m. July 12 at Perkolator, 6032 W. Irving Park Road, organizers said.

Much of Sheldon's work focuses on exotic locations to "converse with nature and explore the diversity of human experience," including the mountains of Switzerland, a run with the bulls in Spain and the streets of Prague and Warsaw, organizers said.

Some of the images in the show were taken during the time Sheldon spent with a nonprofit group in Zimbabwe, where he helped document the start up of an orphanage, a food program and an education program, organizers said.
