Four Wounded in Shootings Since Monday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Four people were shot on the South Side of the city since Monday morning, police said.

Most recently, a 24-year-old man was shot while waiting on a bus on the Far South Side. Around 3 a.m., the man was standing in the 10300 block of South Wentworth Avenue when two men approached and opened fire at him, hitting him in the back, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Pacheco said.

Around 12:34 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the left leg while leaving a building in the 8200 block of South Justine Street in Auburn Gresham, Pacheco said.

He was taken to Christ, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

Six hours earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in the neck while driving in the 3900 block of South Archer Avenue in Brighton Park. After the 6:10 p.m. shooting, the man drove himself to St. Anthony Hospital. He was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

Around 6 p.m., a 25-year-old man was in the 6900 block of South Peoria Avenue in Englewood when he was shot in the buttocks. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.
