BRIGHTON PARK — Calling all neighborhood ballplayers: Baseball Fest is coming to Kelly Park.
On Tuesday, June 30, Brighton-Kelly Baseball will host a baseball-themed day for kids to come out and test their skills at 2725 W. 41st St.
Starting at 6 p.m., there will be a free-to-enter pitch, hit and run tournament. Players will be timed running around the bases. Then they'll get to test themselves at the plate in a hitting contest. Finally, there's a contest to see if you can strike out a batter.
Winners in every category will receive prizes.
Aspiring pitchers will also have a chance to show their stuff on the mound. For $1, you get three balls to pitch past a professional grade radar unit with a LED display that marks ball speed.
For younger children, there will be free kids activities at the Kelly Park Field House. Outside, you'll find a food cart loaded with hot dogs, chips nachos and popcorn.
At dusk, there will be a "Movies in the Park" screening of the 2009 baseball flick "The Perfect Game."
