LINCOLN PARK — The super-sized bar and restaurant taking over the former Etno Village Grill space opened Friday night.

Kings County Tap, the new Brooklyn-inspired concept by the same owners of Etno, has been a long time coming and invited the first customers Friday.

The cow on the roof is gone, walls have been torn down and the space has been expanded to four times the original size of Etno.

Kings County Tap, 2580 N. Lincoln Ave., will feature an entirely new food menu.

Although the restaurant just opened, there has already been a change in the kitchen.

Chef Wilson Bauer, who previously cooked at Elizabeth, Longman & Eagle and Schwa, was originally announced as the chef at Kings County Tap, but Chris Bromley was announced as the new chef Monday.

Some items off the menu include a 7 Layer Salad (pork belly, peas, roasted tomato), KCT Burger (grass-fed beef topped with duck pastrami, ramp kimichi, havarti), seared sea scallops (braised beluga lentils, smoked pork, caviar) and a vegetarian risotto (asparagus and meyer lemon).

The menu also features adult ice cream floats such as a lemon curd malort float.

The restaurant includes the former corner spot where Etno operated and has expanded into what was once a vacant lot, a neighboring coffee shop and a bank.

Kings County Tap is a product of Capacity Bar Group, the same group behind Headquarters beercades in Lakeview and River North.

"The opportunity to acquire the vacant property behind the former Etno, along with the neighboring coffee shop and bank, let us think on a grander scale," said co-owner Daniel Karatosic. "The idea to turn it into an atrium style patio for a year-round indoor/outdoor experience was also a major draw."

A grand opening even is scheduled for July 11.
