LINCOLN PARK — The soon-to-open NewCity mega-development is looking to hire more than 1,200 employees for its fall opening.

The groups behind the project are hosting a job fair July 18 to fill those positions.

Tenants of NewCity that will be represented at the job fair include: Adobe Gila's, ArcLight Cinemas, Dick's Sporting Goods, Earls Kitchen + Bar, IT'SUGAR, Kings Bowl, LYFE Kitchen, Mariano's, Nando's PERi-PERi, Yard House and Z Gallerie.

Newly announced tenants Evereve and James & Sons Fine Jewelers are also participating.

The job fair will be held at the CICS ChicagoQuest School, 1443 N. Ogden Ave. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The $265 million mixed-use development is located on 8½ acres at North Avenue, Clybourn Avenue and Halsted Street and is set to open the retail shops this fall.

The 14-screen ArcLight Cinema will be the first for the theater chain in Chicago.

NewCity will also include a Mariano's grocery store, which will be the largest Mariano's in the city when it opens in October.

The residential component of the development, a 199-unit apartment tower, won't open until 2015.

The total retail space is about 370,000 square feet and the project includes a 1,000-car parking garage.

  • An earlier version of this story stated the job fair was Saturday. The correct date is July 18.
