CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was wounded in Portage Park early Saturday, police said.

Around 12:10 a.m., the man and his friends were involved in a fight with several other men in the 4000 block of North Laport Avenue when shots rang out, striking the 22-year-old in his shoulder, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The 22-year-old left the scene and notified police who were nearby, Cooper said.

The man, who is a documented gang member, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
