THE LOOP — A stretch of LaSalle Street in the heart of The Loop will be reduced to one lane in each direction to make way for emergency water work starting Friday night, transportation officials said.

Repairs to a water valve will force the lane reductions on LaSalle from Madison to Randolph streets for three weeks, the Chicago Department of Transportation said Thursday.

At least one lane will be open in each direction during construction, but CDOT urges drivers to take alternate routes while work is underway to avoid delays.
