WICKER PARK —  A Jackson Hole, Wyo.-based outdoor apparel and accessories shop celebrated its first day in business during the opening of The 606, an elevated 2.7-mile-long biking, walking and jogging trail.

"To all the local businesses, neighbors, friends, the 606 explorers, and passers-by ... Thank you for such a killer first day of being open! We felt such an overwhelmingly positive vibe from every smiling face that came in. We're happy you were interested, curious, and excited," the Stio Mountain Studio shop posted to its Facebook page.

Located at 1719 N. Damen Ave., Stio Mountain Studio is across the street from another outdoor apparel chain, Fjallraven, which opened in February.

Both stores are one block south of Churchill Park at 1825 N. Damen Ave, where folks can hop on or off the elevated trail or visit the dog park.

According to a news release, Stio offers a unique line of “mountain town style meets backcountry performance” apparel. The brand selected the North Damen location in Bucktown/Wicker Park as the first mountain studio outside of its home state.

Stio officials described the neighborhood as having "an active, outdoor-centric population and status as a hotspot for young professionals."

A grand opening weekend, set for Friday through Sunday, will include food trucks, brews and product giveaways, with a portion of the weekend’s sales benefiting Friends of the Chicago River, an organization striving to improve access and amenities along the Chicago River.

Stio's founder Stephen Sullivan said, "With year-round airline service and four direct flights per day in the summer and winter seasons, Chicago and Jackson Hole have already fostered a strong connection. We look forward to enhancing this relationship by bringing a dose of mountain soul to this already vibrant outdoor community.”

Stio Mountain Studio, 1719 N. Damen Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday- Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Ph: 773-360-8572.   For updates, visit the shop's Facebook page.
