Thieves Knocked Out Security Cameras Before Burglarizing Businesses: Police

CHICAGO — Police are warning North Side merchants after two businesses were burglarized last month.

During the incidents, thieves disabled security cameras before entering the buildings and burglarizing them.

In one incident, they took designer watches, pens, cuff links, a black leather wallet, a computer and cash. In the other incident, cash was stolen from a safe, police said.

Around 3:40 a.m. May 20, two men driving a four-door, light-colored car burglarized a business in the 2600 block of West Devon Avenue. And sometime overnight May 25-26, thieves hit a business in the 2100 block of West Devon Avenue, police said.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8263.
