LINCOLN PARK — More than 75 beers will be available at the Lincoln Park Zoo's upcoming Brew to Be Wild event and organizers say it will go smoother than a similar event this winter.

For those who were at the winter's BrewLights beer sampling, zoo officials say issues with huge lines for small samples of beer will be fixed.

The Brew to be Wild tasting event will be held June 13 and is expected to be attended by around 7,000 people. Unlike at the BrewLights event, beer sampling tents will be spread out to ease lines.

"This one is a lot bigger," said Dana Jussaume, the zoo's Director of Sales and Events. "It spans the whole zoo."

The event will feature about 75 beers from more than 35 local and regional breweries.

The tasting event will also feature DJ entertainment, lawn games and views of the animals.

The organizer of the event is a completely different arm than that which put on BrewLights, according to Jussaume. This event will be more similar to the Lions, Tigers and Brews craft beer festival held in the fall of 2014.

"We want to try to bring people who wouldn't normally come to the zoo," Jussaume said. "This is a way for us to reach out to a different audience."

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs through 11 p.m.

Tickets are $49 and include 20 three-ounce tasting tickets and a souvenir tasting glass.

VIP tickets can be purchased for $89 and include access to exclusive tastings, snacks and an extra hour of tastings starting at 5 p.m.

Participating breweries include Lagunitas, Berghoff Beer, Two Brothers Brewing Company, Banging Gavel, Finch's, Motor Row, Blue Nose Breweries and Oregon's Deschutes Brewery.
