ENGLEWOOD — The Resident Association of Greater Englewood is seeking local artists and dance groups to perform at its So Fresh Saturdays events this summer.

Dance groups, choirs and poets are all welcome. The group wants to showcase local talent who won't "glorify" violence, sex or drugs. Those interested in being considered can send a demo of their music to Joinrage@gmail.com or call 866-845-1032.

The So Fresh Saturdays series kicks off June 20 at Sherwood Park, 5701 S. Shields Avenue from 3- 8 p.m. The group created it to offer youths a safe environment, as well as educate and empower them. There will be live music, educational workshops on youth entrepreneurship, hip hop, media, social networks and community activism, along with film showcases and more.

So Fresh Saturdays is part of the citywide Night Out in the Parks initiative. The initiative takes over five parks in the Englewood community with the goal of creating and spreading peace.

The next event is July 11 at Ogden Park, 6500 S. Racine.
