BRIDGEPORT — A 17-year-old boy was shot dead and an 18-year-old man was wounded in a Bridgeport shooting Saturday morning, police said.

Around 2:13 a.m. Saturday morning Richard Edwards, 17, and an 18-year-old man were driving away from a party in Bridgeport when a light-colored SUV pulled up alongside them and fired shots, officials said.

The men drove away before collapsing and exiting their vehicle at 753 W. 35th St., at which time police discovered them, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Police found Edwards, of 3900 South Lake Park Avenue, unresponsive after he was shot in his armpit, officials said.

Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The other man was shot in the hand and shoulder and was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he's listed as stable, Cooper said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Cooper said.
