CHICAGO — A 41-year-old man died while in police custody at the Jefferson Park District station, 5151 N. Milwaukee Ave., after being arrested Tuesday night.

Police found the man, Johnny Lopez, of the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue, unresponsive about 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the station at 8:20 p.m. after paramedics failed to revive him, authorities said.

The Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy on Lopez Wednesday, but results were still pending.

A Chicago Police spokesman said Wednesday the investigation into Lopez's death is ongoing.
