CANARYVILLE — A woman stabbed multiple times, bombarded with bottles and bashed with bricks at Taylor-Lauridsen Park is claiming the attack was racially motived.
"If somebody pretty much kept calling you the N-word, you would think it was racially motivated, too," Kristina Fox, 20, told ABC7 in an interview.
The attack happened around 3 a.m. Saturday, when a group of people — all white — confronted Fox and her 25-year-old brother near the park, she said
Fox shared the gruesome details in a June 3 Facebook post.
The night started innocently enough. Fox, her brother and one of their friends met a man and two women near the park and started a conversation. But things turned sour when a larger group of people — all white — showed up, she said.
An argument broke out in the group, and Fox’s brother tried to break it up, Fox said. Fox and her brother then tried leaving the park, but they were instead surrounded and attacked, she said.
“They were throwing glass bottles, crutches, bricks and anything else they could find at us,” Fox wrote on Facebook. “As we continued to fight through this crowd of assailants to get away, more Caucasians came from out of nowhere and joined in brutally attacking us delivering closed-fist blows and kicks to our bodies and head. We began the fight of our lives.”
Fox suffered at least eight stab wounds and broken bones around her eye, according to ABC7. The attackers also stabbed her brother, who suffered a punctured lung.
Police are still investigating the attack. No one has been arrested.
