Police Warn Business After Men Steal ATMs on West Side

CHICAGO — Police issued a warning after a series of ATMs were stolen from businesses in Austin, Humboldt Park and Avondale.

In each of the five incidents, men forced their way through the front door of a business and removed the ATM, police said in a statement.

In two cases, the men pulled the electric meter from the back of the store to disable the alarm systems, police said.

The incidents occurred in the:

• 5400 block of West Division Street at 6 a.m. Monday.

• 3100 block of North Central Park Avenue between 3-5 a.m. Saturday.

• 3700 block of West Division Street at 3:07 a.m. May 27.

• 5900 block of West North Avenue between 1-9 a.m. on May 6.

• 5900 block of West Division Street at 5:06 a.m. April 1.
