Portage Park Gas Station Robberies Lead to Police Alert

Police released photos of a man who entered two Portage Park gas stations armed with a gun and demanded money. [Chicago Police]

PORTAGE PARK — Police warned Far Northwest Side residents to be extra cautious after the same man robbed two Portage Park gas stations.

In both robberies, which took place Tuesday and last Wednesday,  the man entered the gas station armed with a gun and demanded money, police said.

The first incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday at a gas station in the 5200 block of West Addison Street. The second robbery took place at 10:11 p.m. May 27 at a gas station in the 4000 block of North Laramie Avenue.

Police are looking for a man between ages 20-30, between 5-feet-7-inches and 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing between 125-170 pounds. The man wore a mask covering his face, a hooded sweatshirt or jacket, blue jeans, brown shoes and gloves.
