25-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Chatham Sunday Identified

CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Chatham was identified as Odell Brown, officials said.

Around 12:15 p.m., Brown was walking outside in the 8700 block of South Wabash Avenue when someone pulled up in a white van and fired shots at him, striking him three times in his torso, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Brown, of Hazel Crest, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
