CHICAGO — Dog poop is a real problem in Chicago.

That's at least according to the commenters and respondents who took DNAinfo Chicago's poll, "What's the worst dog beach etiquette infraction?"

Our Ultimate Summer Guide to Not Being a Jerk at the Dog Beach gave tips on getting along with your fellow humans at Montrose Dog Beach, and we also asked readers to weigh in with their own horror stories.

Of more than 500 poll respondents, 45 percent said not picking up a dog's waste was the worst etiquette infraction at the dog beach.

That was followed by not paying attention to your dog, which earned 33 percent of the vote.

Toni Ryan may have put it best on our Facebook page:

One commenter noted that dog beach etiquette is really for humans, as his dog has fun either way:

After all, isn't the dog beach for dogs, not for humans? That was Anne's take:

Our Etiquette Guide mentioned that food of any kind is not allowed at dog-friendly beaches, but we saw a lot of people chowing down at Montrose Dog Beach recently.

Though our poll joked that not having a dog and hanging out at the dog beach could be a serious etiquette infraction, one commenter said she's actually seen people selling dogs at the beach.

And for those owners determined to make a fuss with their pup, even if the dog is leashed, there are always ways to intrude on personal space:

Remember, dogs are unpredictable, but it's an owner's job to know that.
