Update: Man Critically Wounded in Austin Shooting Dies, Is Identified

CHICAGO — Charlie R. Weathers, 24, who was critically wounded in Austin Saturday afternoon has died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Around 12:45 p.m., Weathers was discovered on the ground in the 0-100 block of North Laramie Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in critical condition, Sweeney said.

Weathers, of the 5000 block of West End Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:01 p.m. according to the medical examiner.

No further information was available.
