THE LOOP — A North Lawndale man has been charged with promoting prostitution while the NFL Draft was in town.

Authorities said an undercover officer arranged a date with a woman who placed an ad on Backpage.com. On April 30, the woman met the officer Downtown, offered to perform sex acts for money and was taken into custody.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office said the woman received medical treatment and police investigated signs of sex trafficking.

Prosecutors alleged Madison Reed, 30, had arranged and profited from the situation. Reed, of the 1800 block of South Hamlin Avenue, was charged for promoting prostitution. He was also wanted for an outstanding warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas on Friday ordered Reed held in lieu of $750,000 bail.
