81-Year-Old Woman Among 6 Wounded on the South Side Friday Evening

CHICAGO — An 81-year-old woman was among six people wounded on the South Side Friday.

Around 5 p.m., the woman and a 35-year-old man were outside in the 7800 block of South Carpenter Street in Auburn Gresham when someone fired shots from a passing white SUV, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 81-year-old woman was shot in her right wrist and stomach and the 35-year-old man was shot in his hip. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where their conditions had stabilized, Sweeney said.

Around 3:25 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his leg and back while walking in the 900 block of East 82nd Street. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Sweeney said.

Around 1:55 p.m., three men were shot while in the 6000 block of South Wentworth Avenue in Englewood, Sweeney said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in his head and leg, and a 19-year-old man was shot in his right shoulder. Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital, where there conditions had stabilized, Sweeney said.

A 21-year-old man also was grazed in his shoulder, but he refused medical attention, Sweeney said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.
