LINCOLN PARK — The walls of Lincoln Park's newest culinary-themed bookstore are stacked with 4,000 titles.

Read It and Eat, a passion project by owner Esther Dairiam, opened its doors this week at 2124 N. Halsted St.

The shop also features a full demo kitchen.

The shop is holding a grand opening event Thursday night hosted by Mindy Segal, chef at Mindy's Hot Chocolate.

The event will feature a tasting of some of Segal's baked goods and a signing of her cookbook, "Cookie Love."

Dairiam, who was inspired to open the shop during a trip to Paris, plans on hosting chef demos to feature recipes from their cookbooks and hopes to offer cooking classes at the shop.

Read it and Eat features local and imported cookbooks as well as books on food science, history and travel.
