CHICAGO — A ramp that allows motorists driving south on the Kennedy Expy to go west on the Eisenhower Expy will be closed this weekend starting Friday night.

The ramp closure is part of the Jane Byrne Improvement Project, which began in September of 2013 around what has been known as the Circle Interchange.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, the Illinois Department of Transportation will close the ramp for work on the water main near Green Street corridor and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, IDOT said.

The suggested detour will direct drivers southbound on the Dan Ryan to the 18th Street exit then make a left on 18th Street and another left onto Ruble Street to reenter on the northbound Dan Ryan Expy. Drivers must then use the north to west exit ramp to enter the Eisenhower Expy., IDOT said.

The Jane Byrne Improvement Project is scheduled to be completed by Summer of 2018.
