BEVERLY — Wet weather didn't dampen the spirits of those participating in the Beverly Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday.

Slight rains lessened to a misty drizzle as some 14,000 people took to the streets in their best pink outfits. The annual three-mile walk began and ended at Ridge Park.

Over the last 15 years, the Beverly Breast Cancer walk has raised more than $4 million for Little Company of Mary Hospital in suburban Evergreen Park.

The nearby hospital has used the proceeds from the walk to fund its cancer center, Comprehensive Breast Health Center and mammography department.

The neighborhood walk has since become the biggest such Mother's Day event in the Chicago area, surpassing similar walks and fundraisers downtown.

Those who participated in the walk and others who opted to stay in bed on a cold, wet Sunday morning can relieve the events with DNAinfo's photo slideshow.
