Loyola Men's Volleyball Takes Home Second Straight NCAA Title

CHICAGO — Loyola University's men's volleyball team clinched its second straight national title after defeating Lewis University Saturday night at Stanford University.

During the five-set match, Lewis University took an early lead by winning the first set 25-21. Loyola then followed up by winning the next two sets, 25-23, 25-15. The Flyers came back to tie the match during the fourth set, 27-25.

As the teams entered the fifth set, Loyola scored the first two points, but Lewis rallied to take an early lead against Loyola.

As the teams battled for the lead throughout the final match, Cody Caldwell scored a kill and solo block to put Loyola on top 22-21 before working with his teammates for the game-winning block.

Loyola ended their season with an overall record of 28-2. The victory made Loyola the fourth school in the tournament's 45-year history to win back-to-back NCAA titles.
