ROGERS PARK — Later this month the City Council will vote on whether to name the street corner outside the 49th Ward Democratic Party headquarters after David Fagus, the party committeeman and long-time Rogers Park resident who died in December after suffering kidney failure.

Fagus was beloved in the community and in political circles.

The northeast corner of North Ravenswood and West Greenleaf avenues — outside party headquarters at 1774 W. Greenleaf Ave. — would be named "Honorary David Fagus Way" under an ordinance proposed by Ald. Joe Moore (49th).

Moore said the ordinance should go up for a vote during the May 20 City Council meeting. If passed, a dedication ceremony for new street signs bearing Fagus' name would likely take place in early July, he said.

Fagus' 10-year-old kidney transplant failed nearly three years ago, and he was severely ill before he died.
