Telepathic Virtual Reality and the Future Explored in 'Thinking Caps'

LOGAN SQUARE — It’s the near future. The Internet is dead and telepathy is the new reality.

An original work premiering in Logan Square this weekend takes those themes to the stage as Strangeloop Theatre presents “Thinking Caps” at the Charnel House, 3421 W Fullerton Ave., starting Friday night.

The play by Keith Gatchel is an exploration of the perils of social media in a telepathic-based virtual reality 25 years from now, according to the Logan Square-based theater company. But how far is too far when it comes to technology?

The production takes audiences on a journey through the lives — real and virtual — of the Cusack family as they grapple with the dominance of the technology that brought them together — and now threatens to tear them apart, according to an announcement for the show.

“'Thinking Caps’ is relevant to the audiences of today who are grappling with new and ever-changing methods of interaction,” according to Strangeloop.
