Etno to be Reborn as Quadruple-Sized Kings County Tap

LINCOLN PARK — The wait is finally over, and the crew behind the upcoming Kings County Tap says it will all be worth it.

The restaurant formerly known as Etno Village Grill has been closed for nearly two years during its transformation. When it reopens this month, four times the size and completely renovated, it will emerge as Kings County Tap.

Kings County Tap, 2580 N. Lincoln Ave., will be a full-service bar and restaurant celebrating the "simple pleasures of life" such as housemade sodas and floats.

The space will be inspired by the "merry Monarch" King Charles II and features an industrial-inspired dining area between glass overhead doors that open to the patio.

The little corner restaurant has expanded back into the former vacant lot behind it as well as the neighboring coffee shop and bank.

Paul Biasco says the new spot is four times the size of Etno:

The menu will feature new American cuisine by chef Wilson Bauer, whose past includes stints at some of the top restaurants in the city including Longman & Eagle, Elizabeth and Schwa.

The restaurant will have upward of 170 seats, according to plans discussed more than a year ago.

The group was originally denied a liquor license request after meeting some neighborhood opposition, but that was cleared up in late 2013.

Some neighborhood concerns at the original meeting included the outdoor patio space and noise.

The owners of Kings County Tap include Mark Kwiatkowski, who also owns the Headquarters Beercades in Lakeview and River North.
