PORTAGE PARK — The third annual spring fundraiser hosted by Portage Park Helping Hands will raise money for Portage Park Elementary School, organizers said.

Illuminate — designed to "shine a light on our community and school" — is set for 6 p.m. May 22 at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave., organizers said.

Tickets are $25 per person or $45 per couple in advance, organizers said. Tickets at the door are $40 each, organizers said.

In addition to food, music and a raffle, the event will feature a silent auction of items donated by the staff of the school at 5330 W. Berteau Ave., including the chance to be principal for a day and a rocking chair designed by the school's kindergarten class.

Donations to the campaign to raise $30,000 to buy iPads can also be made online.

Portage Park Helping Hands, a group made up of parents and community members, to provide tools for teachers and improve school programming, members said.
