LINCOLN PARK — The NFL isn't the only organization evaluating players for the big game in Chicago this week.

The biggest question of the day is who will come off the board first, fan-favorite Jimmy Claw-sen or Joe Meow-tana?

The first-ever Road to Puppy Bowl Draft is set for Wednesday afternoon at PAWS Chicago, 1997 N. Clybourn Ave.

Current and former NFL players will be evaluating prospective puppy and kitty players for Team Ruff or Team Fluff.

Jay Feely and Eric Winston will be representing NFL All Stars and Anthony "Spice" Adams and Alex Brown will represent the Chicago Bears Alumni Team in the draft.

The players will host the draft proceedings, which include a big board of remaining "players" and help attendees make their picks from the lineup of adoptable animals.

Animal Planet and PAWS Chicago are teaming up for event, which will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

"It's really just a fun adoption event," said PAWS Chicago spokeswoman Sarah Ahlberg. "Obviously adoption is the main goal for the event."

Animal Planet and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will send pets home with a bag of Puppy Bowl swag.

The animals selected during the draft will not be participating in the actual Puppy Bowl.

PAWS has designated many of the animals that have been at the shelter the longest as MVPS.

A preliminary draft board of available players is available at pawschicago.org.
