PULLMAN — The Cooperation Operation plans to kick off its third growing season on Saturday with a volunteer drive, seed-planting session and a neighborhood potluck cookout.

The urban farming charity grows vegetables and herbs in giant planters and that neighbors share on the honor system on a concrete slab on an abandoned lot near 114th and Langley. For the past two years, the coop has donated surplus greens to local food pantries.

Saturday’s season kick-off is set to start with a short tour at 11 a.m. followed by a few hours of planting and the neighborhood potluck, which is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
