NORWOOD PARK — The next phase of a $7.6 million project to replace the sewer under Talcott Avenue will force the road to close to westbound traffic this week, Ald. Mary O'Connor (41st) said.

The project will replace 12-inch sewer mains with significantly larger pipes in an effort to prevent nearby homes from flooding, O'Connor said.

Crews working to rebuild the base of Talcott Avenue will shutdown the westbound lane of Talcott Avenue between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until the concrete has set, O'Connor said.

Westbound traffic will be detoured to Bryn Mawr Avenue and then head north on Oriole Avenue and back to Talcott Avenue, O'Connor said.

The project will continue through the summer, O'Connor said.
