CHICAGO — A 5-year-old girl was hospitalized after being shot Wednesday night at her home in Englewood, police said.

Around 8:30 p.m., police and emergency crews arrived in the 5900 block of South Peoria Street and found a girl with a gunshot wound in the arm, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Police Department spokesman.

She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital where she was listed in good condition, Gaines said.

A weapon was recovered in the home, and investigators are speaking with witnesses and "persons of interest," police said.
