LINCOLN PARK — A major food and wine festival will be held in Lincoln Park this summer featuring some of the city's top chefs.

The Chicago Food + Wine Festival will include a "Feast Under the Stars" in Lincoln Park as well as a number of other events during its debut Aug. 28-30.

The festival, which was announced Tuesday morning, was put together by a partner at C3 Presents, the promoters behind Lollapalooza, chef Tim Love and Christina Grdovic, publisher of Food & Wine magazine.

“I have come to consider Chicago my second home and have had the opportunity to meet and get to know many of the great chefs here,” said Charlie Jones, a partner of C3 Presents and festival co-founder. “With the city's vibrant culinary scene and incredible talent, a food and wine festival is a natural fit.”

The events will feature food from chefs such as Jimmy Bannos Jr. (The Purple Pig); Dennis Bernard and Tom Van Lente (Dove’s Luncheonette, Big Star); Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp (Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Sunday Dinner Club); Christopher Donovan (House of Glunz); Cameron Grant (Osteria Langhe); Sarah Grueneberg (Monteverde) and many more.

The event is expected to attract a national and international audience.

The first night, Aug. 28, features a "feast under the stars" in Lincoln Park with Jimmy Bannos, Graham Elliot, Stephanie Izard, Tony Mantuano and Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate) for a family-style dinner in Lincoln Park. Tickets are $225.

Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30, will feature a chef showcase with samples from two dozen noted Chicago chefs from tents in Lincoln Park.

There will be cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.

“Chicago is a culinary capital primed for a standout, all-star food festival with huge national appeal," said Christina Grdovic, senior vice president/publisher of Food & Wine. "At Food & Wine, we’re obsessed with uncovering and championing amazing talent, and of course there’s a ton of it in Chicago."

An "all-in" ticket for the entire weekend costs $550 per person.

Single-day tickets Saturday and Sunday are $175. Tickets include wine, beer and spirits tastings and book signings.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. April 21.
