DOWNTOWN — An Uptown coffee shop aims to deliver new jolts of java Downtown.

Dollop Coffee Company will open two new cafes in the Loop and Streeterville by this summer, owner Dan Weiss said.

The sidewalk cafes at 225 W. Washington St. and 860 N. DeWitt Place will feature Modbar espresso machines serving Metropolis coffee, as well as breakfast sandwiches, pastries and lunch hand-crafted by Dollop Bake Shop and Paula Haney’s Hoosier Mama Pie Company. Dollop's new spots will also include outdoor seating for people-watching.

The cafes are the latest from Dollop, which is also opening a bigger bake shop in a Ukrainian Village condominium project along with a joint operation with Hoosier Mama Pies in Pilsen.

The Streeterville cafe is expected to open by late spring, with the Loop cafe opening in the summer. The growing coffee chain currently runs two Downtown cafes, at 343 S. Dearborn St. and 345 E. Ohio St.
