CTA Bus Crash in Lawndale Leaves 9 Hurt, Officals Say

CHICAGO — Nine people were injured, one seriously, in a crash involving a bus and another vehicle in Lawndale Saturday morning, fire officials said.

Around 7:05 a.m., an extended CTA bus and a vehicle were in an accident at Independence Boulevard and Roosevelt Road, sending one person to Mount Sinai Medical Center in serious condition, said Juan Hernandez, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

Eight others were taken to area hospitals where their conditions had stabilized, Hernandez said.

No other information was immediately available.
